MOVIE Review:
'Sausage Party will change the way you see food forever' (Rated-R)

WARNING: This movie is not for children!

Hilarious. Horrible. Shocker. Offensive. You will either love or hate this animated comedy.

This movie is set in a grocery store. Every morning the many wonderful items in your grocery store are waiting to go home with you until a returned item of honey mustard tells everyone the truth; humans eat you after they purchase you. Frank (Seth Rogen) is a sausage, that accidentally gets out of his packaging when a couple of items fall on the supermarket floor. Now Frank and friends are on a mission to tell all of their friends from produce to the non-perishables the truth.

The plot is funny and hilarious.

However, the vulgar language, stereotypes and hyper sexual discussions take this movie to a level of offensiveness that seems impossible for an animated film. The food characters are culturally and racially fixed on loosely connected origins. No culture is spared from offensive jokes. The supermarket becomes a generalized symbol of the world. In the end, the food friends accomplish their goal of fighting back against the humans but not without a price and a weird sexually charged celebration that will catch you off guard.

If the goal was to get a jaw dropping reaction good or bad from people, the movie accomplishes that. However, if the humor was slightly less raunchy, more people would want to see this film and enjoy it.

'Don't Breathe' (Rated-R)
Thrilling, shocking and full of surprises Three thieves break into homes for fast cash but it all falls apart when they pick the house of a wealthy man. Rocky (Jane Levy), Alex (Dylan Minnette), and Money (Daniel Zovatto) want to leave a life of poverty. Though there are many options, like finding a job or going back to school, the trio of thieves plot to rob various homes in the city. Their final theft seems like an easy one because their target is blind (Stephen Lang). However, they find themselves tangled in a web of traps in the dark. "Don't Breathe" is unexpectedly fresh and entertaining with a new perspective on an old theme. This movie is worth a watch!

Suicide Squad PG-13

It's a world where Superman is gone and the government uses the worst criminals to fight the most power superhuman. The beginning of the movie provides a strong foundation for who these criminals are so even if you don't follow the comics you can follow the story. It might be best if you don't know the comics because you will see this as a movie with no expectation other than to be entertained. You'll see a soft dysfunctional side of the Joker (Jared Leto) thanks to Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Deadshot (Will Smith) gives this movie the blend of comedy and action that it needs. He's a solid character. However toward the end, the battle to destroy Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) is simply disconnected, as if the actors weren't in character and ready to wrap things up. Overall, it's an entertaining movie that is better than its movie trailer.

'War Dogs' (Rated-R)

Two childhood friends decide to make millions selling guns and ammunition to countries in the middle of war. Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) is making thousands of dollars as an international war dealer when he invites David Packouz (Miles Teller) to partner with him. Based on a true story, the two men search for small vendor deals through the U.S. government. If the government accepts their offer to supply them with guns, the duo makes millions.

This film maintains a strong balance between crime and drama, as the duo seems to get away with making easy money fast. The characters transform into greedy driven dealers, who appear invincible.

Overall, "War Dogs" maintains a strong pace, concise character development and a story full of intrigue. "War Dogs" is sinfully good and worth a watch.

MEVOE Grade: A

Jason Bourne (2016) PG-13

Jason Bourne resurfaces to save the life of a comrade and gets caught in the web again of running from authorities and killing everyone that gets in his way. The upside to this movie, the action is relentless and Bourne gets closer to the truth of who he is. The downside to this movie is its predictability. There are only so many options for a Bourne character unless he did a total 180 and opened a coffee shop, got married and had a family. For the sake of a good action movie, you will love this film. However, you may be underwhelmed by the lack of character growth. Entertaining but predictable.

MEVOE Grade: B-

Florence Foster Jenkins (PG-13)

Florence Foster Jenkins (Meryl Streep) is a socialite and ambitious theater performer who isn't the best singer. Jenkins is oblivious to her lack of talent but lives for the arts. Based on a true story, Jenkins single handedly creates one of the most memorable and worst performances at Carnegie Hall. This film begins on the stage, Jenkins acting but not singing. Then one day Jenkins decides she must become an opera singer and her husband St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant) supports her desires. You see the love of a man to help his wife's dreams come true. This couple finds great conflict in living in truth or denying reality and the results are deadly. Expect to fall in love with Jenkins' ambition, Bayfield's charm and the life of a socialite. This film has a perfect blend of comedy and drama.  If you love theater or have ever performed in theater this movie will win you over. Meryl Streep's transformation into Florence makes this movie a classic!
